The provincial People's Committee said on August 13 that Do Huu Huy, chairman of the provincial People's Committee, had met a delegation from Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), led by Andrew White, the group's vice-president.

At the meeting, Huy said Daklak offered a distinctive connection between the Central Highlands and the coast, with diverse landscapes, rich cultural traditions and renowned agricultural products including coffee and durian, as well as coastal resources and products.
Buon Ma Thuot is particularly known as a major Robusta coffee-growing region. The province wants to promote the coffee brand more strongly in international markets.

Beyond coffee, Daklak has a rich cultural heritage, including the Space of Gong Culture in the Central Highlands and the art of Bai Choi, both recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Provincial officials said stories of the highlands, indigenous cultures, blue seas and the unique ecosystems of Yok Don and Chu Yang Sin national parks, as well as the region's elephant population, could provide compelling material for Discovery programmes and documentaries.

Daklak wants WBD to help promote the province's landscapes, culture, natural environment and signature products on international platforms. It also hopes to receive support for digital communications, advice on attracting international tourists, and connections and investment research in the province's cultural and resort tourism ecosystem.
WBD representatives said Discovery was a suitable platform for telling stories about Daklak, given the province's strengths in nature, culture, exploration and experiential tourism.
The two sides agreed to initially promote Buon Ma Thuot coffee and the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2027 on Discovery, potentially paving the way for broader cooperation in promoting the province's tourism, culture and natural heritage to global audiences.
WBD is a global media and entertainment group with a broad portfolio spanning television, film and digital platforms. It operates in more than 220 countries and territories and in 50 languages.
Its brands include Discovery Channel, Discovery+, CNN, Eurosport, HBO and Travel Channel.
In Vietnam, Discovery has previously produced documentaries covering sectors including coffee, technology, telecommunications and the automotive industry.
