Three members in a family were killed while one is still missing on June 4 after an accident on the Red River in Thai Binh Province.
At 3.30pm, a vessel steered by Tran Van Tuan suddenly collided with another boat which was also going in the same direction while passing through Vu Thu District. Tuan, his wife and his eight year-old and two year-old, all fell into the river.
After being informed of the case, the local authorities established a search and rescue team to find the victims. The team found Tuan's body at 9.40pm on the same day and the bodies of his wife his daughter were found on the next day. The authorities are still searching for Tuan's son.
Tran Huy Hai, chairman of Vu Thu District People's Committee, said Tuan's ship was carrying 80 tonnes of gravel.
Police are investigating the case.
