Many large-scale infrastructure projects need advanced technology |
Ronald Unterburger, Managing Director and CEO of Asia Pacific Messe München International (MMI) Group, praised Vietnam’s ability to attract foreign investors during a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on November 2 to announce “Conbuild Vietnam 2010”.
Conbuild Vietnam is the 4th International Trade Fair for Construction and Building, Machinery, Equipment, Materials, Vehicles, Technology and Services. The event is scheduled to open in Hanoi from December 1-4.
Vietnam has implemented a range of mammoth infrastructure projects, including metro routes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, a new terminal at Noi Bai International Airport, Noi Bai-Nhat Tan Highway and the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong and Danang-Quang Ngai expressways, Unterburger added.
He noted that these projects showed an infrastructure boom which is expected to boost the country’s construction development.
Dang Kim Giao, Director of the Ministry of Construction’s Information Centre said, “Vietnam’s construction value in the first 9 months rose by 121% compared to a year earlier.”
“It is Vietnam’s priority for road, railway and waterway projects that has helped to bring this increase. This is among the vital factors that make Vietnam become an attractive destination for international investors,” Unterburger said, highlighting that the local government has offered incentives in taxes and land use for large-scale projects.
MMI continues to host Conbuild Vietnam to bring local contractors in touch with the latest technology, materials and equipment from foreign firms such as those from Germany, Singapore, South Korea and China.
Mr. Giao also said, “This exhibition will offer Vietnamese companies a chance to absorb new and economical technologies and products as well as provide investment information about the Southeast Asian nation’s construction sector for foreign companies.”
Conbuild Vietnam 2010, expected to attract 200 companies from 20 countries worldwide, will be a chance for Vietnamese contractors to exchange cooperation opportunities with international partners.
