According to the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the initiative is a regular activity intended to demonstrate the capital's hospitality and responsibility towards visitors while promoting Hanoi as a tourism destination.
To meet increased travel demand during the five-day National Day break, Hanoi will provide free travel on public buses and the city's urban railway system. More than 17,000 bus services will operate each day, while urban railway lines will run at 10-minute intervals.
The city will also deploy 42 standby buses to accommodate sudden increases in passenger numbers and help ease congestion when necessary.
During the National Day holiday, 17 landmarks, historical sites and cultural attractions across Hanoi will also offer free admission.
They include the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, Hoa Lo Prison, the Co Loa historical site, Huong Pagoda, the heritage site at 22 Hang Buom Street, the Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street, the Hanoi Museum, Bach Ma Temple, Kim Ngan Communal House, Quan Thanh Temple, the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre, Quan De Temple, Duong Lam Ancient Village, Thay Pagoda and Tay Phuong Pagoda.
The measures are part of Hanoi's efforts to improve visitor services and create more accessible cultural and tourism experiences during the National Day celebrations.
