Nguyen Hoai Giang, General Director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd (BSR), the facility’s operator, said on August 26, that the plant will be operating at full capacity in the next ten days.
Technip, the plant’s EPC contractor, is responsible for dealing with 55 remaining technical errors to ensure safety, Giang said.
The Dung Quat plant suspended operation on July 15 for maintenance, scheduled to last for two months.
As of July 15, the plant had refined 3.44 million tonnes of crude oil, meeting 61% of the year’s target. It had also sold 3.3 million tonnes of product during the period, fulfilling 63% of the year’s plan.
During the same period, the plant brought in revenues of over VND68.7 trillion (USD3.3 billion) and contributed over VND8.8 trillion (USD422.3 million) to the state budget.
Previously, BSR forecast that the plant’s suspension may result in a daily loss of around USD1 million in revenues.
