The provincial Department of Health said it had received the 80 donated devices and was preparing to install them at busy public locations. Twenty-five will be placed along beaches in Nha Trang and Bac Nha Trang wards.
The devices are expected to be installed in September and October, with Nha Trang's beaches given priority, a department official said.
The AEDs will be placed in visible, easily accessible locations and stored under appropriate conditions. The department will also train non-medical emergency responders at sites where the devices are installed.
The initiative is part of a new community healthcare approach focused on providing immediate, on-site emergency assistance and connecting patients with professional medical services, the department said.
Sudden cardiac arrest can occur at any time, with the first three to five minutes considered critical to a patient's chances of survival. Access to AEDs, combined with basic first-aid skills, can help restore a normal heart rhythm and improve survival prospects before an ambulance arrives or the patient reaches hospital.
Khanh Hoa has welcomed more than 16 million visitors so far this year, including nearly 6.5 million international arrivals, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The province is approaching its 2026 target of 18.8 million visitors, with tourism revenue projected at VND 77 trillion (USD 2.9 billion).
