Readers of Dantri/DTiNews have donated VND484 million (USD22,857) to a poor woman in Soc Trang Province to help cover treatment for her husband and their new-born child who are all in critical condition due to heart problems.
When Nguyen Thi Ca Nau, 26, was about to give birth to her second child in April this year, her husband had to be sent urgently to hospital due to a heart problem.

Then things became more difficult for her when the new-born baby was also diagnosed with heart disease right after birth so he was taken to Children II Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment.
The baby requires multiple stents prior to surgery and each costs VND15 million, while the operation will also cost some tens of millions dong. This is a rather difficult case and the baby now needs special nutritional care.
After the article about the family was published on Dantri/DTiNews, many people and organisations directly contacted Ca Nau or sent donations to the newspaper's Charitable Hearts Fund to help her.
After the operation, the health condition of her husband and her baby has much improved and they will be discharged from hospital soon.
On June 14, Journalist Ly Thi Toan Thang from Dantri/DTiNews' representative office in HCM City handed over the donation of USD22,857 to Ca Nau.
After paying the entire hospital fees for the husband and baby, Ca Nau used VND200 million from the total donated money to help other poor patients at Children II Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
