The National Assembly has voted to remove NA deputy Dang Thi Hoang Yen from its list of members due to her declaration of dishonesty.
At the ongoing NA session, 457 of the 473 deputies present on May 26 agreed with the NA Standing Committee’s proposal to dismiss Yen.
After the vote, Head of the NA Office, Nguyen Hanh Phuc, presented a draft resolution on her removal to the NA for approval.
Under the Law of Organization of the National Assembly, a deputy will be removed from office by the NA if at least two-thirds of the total number of NA deputies vote ‘yes’ to the removal.
The 53-year-old Yen is chairwoman of several organizations including the Tan Tao Group, Tan Duc Investment and Industry Joint Stock Company, and Tan Tao University.
She was elected to the NA in May 2011.
