The visit aims to enhance multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the European countries and international economic organizations.
In the UK, the DPM planned to take part in a series of events to boost the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership and deliver a speech at the Vietnam Economic Forum on September 10 (Hanoi time).
His presence at the forum, together with Prince Andrew and Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, is expected to significantly promote Vietnam’s investment and business climate among UK businesses and connect both countries’ businesses in oil and gas, IT, as well as agro-fishery import and export.
In London, DPM Ninh is scheduled to attend and address a plenary session of the Vietnam-UK Educational Cooperation Forum, then witness the signing of cooperative documents between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, the British Council and the Association of British Universities.
In addition, he will meet with Prince Andrew and Lord Puttman, and attend the Vietnam Discovery Festival held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In Switzerland, his activities will aim to foster bilateral ties between Vietnam and the European country as the two are preparing for a celebration of the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations; call on Switzerland to maintain ODA provision for Vietnam after 2016; and boost negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
DPM Ninh will meet with Swiss Vice President and Economic Minister, the SecretaryGeneral of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) while attending and addressing the organization’s 62nd session. He will also work with the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the WTO International Law Consultation Center.
In the EU, DPM Ninh will meet with high-level officials of the EU Parliament and Commission to suggest the EU’s ratification of the Vietnam-EU comprehensive cooperation and partnership agreement and the signing of the EU-Vietnam FTA this year.
He will also enhance bilateral cooperation and learn experience from the EU in science, technology and climate change response whist calling for the EU’s support to Vietnam’s stance on issues in the East Sea.
