Local people in Quang Binh Province’s Tuyen Hoa District have found the body of a dead elephant in Khe Uoi Forest.
The body had been decapitated and its limbs removed. The carcass had also been skinned. The elephant is around 3.2 metres long and 1.3 metre high.
Locals reported they had last seen the animal live in the area two months ago.
Some local residents said the area had previously been home to two mature elephants. Two years ago one of them was killed for its tusks.
According to experts and local people, the dead elephant used to live the area.
