Daily Covid-19 infections continue falling on Sunday

The number of new Covid-19 cases continued to drop in Vietnam with 685 cases confirmed on Sunday, the lowest daily infections reported in 11 months, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 46 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (207), Yen Bai (79), Vinh Phuc (46), Quang Ninh (36), and Tuyen Quang (31).

As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.72 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On June 5, an additional 8,548 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.50 million.

On Sunday evening, no deaths related to Covid-19 were announced. Total fatalities stayed at 43,080.

By June 4, the country had injected more than 222 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including over 4.71 million given to children aged 5 to 11.
