This means internet security in Vietnam has improved and the campaigns to deal with malware in Hanoi and HCM City have brought great results. The number of Vietnamese botnet IPs reduced by 34.30% to 4,300,218 IPs.
In the first six months, Vietnamese authorities have recorded 54 serious attacks including the attack to spread Ave Maria Trojan, HawkEye Reborn malware, and LockerGoga and Ryuk ransomware. Attacks from Muddy Waters and TajMahal hackers were also reported.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, there were 203 million cyber safety events in the first half of 2019. The number of attacks that had been detected at state agencies doubled compared to the same period last year.
Last year, Vietnam was ranked 50th out of 175 places of 194 countries worldwide in the global cybersecurity index of the International Telecommunication Union. In the Southeast Asia region, Vietnam ranked fifth out of 11 countries after Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
