Airlines requested to reduce flights from and to Tan Son Nhat airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has ordered local airlines to cut flights at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City amid the pandemic outbreak in HCM City.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has ordered local airlines to cut flights at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City amid the pandemic outbreak in HCM City.

Under the CAAV’s instruction, the flight reduction will be applied from June 1-14. During this time, local airlines are allowed to conduct a total of 63 return flights on 16 domestic routes to Tan Son Nhat International Airport per day.


Among those, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will provide 28 flights, VietJet Air with 20 flights, Pacific Airlines with three, Bamboo Airways with 11 and Vietravel Airlines with one.

The Hanoi-HCM City route will have 18 flights every day; Vinh-HCM City route with seven flights, Phu Quoc-HCM City and Thanh Hoa-HCM CIty routes with six flights; Haiphong-HCM, Quy Nhon-HCM City and Hue-HCM City with four; while the other routes ranging from 1-3 flights per day.

Airlines are also required to strictly conform to Covid-19 prevention regulations.

Earlier, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City suspended flights from abroad from May 27.

HCM City has also imposed social distancing measures from May 31.
