A poor widow in the northern province of Hai Duong, who is on the verge of death due to breast cancer, is calling the public support for her three children with an uncertain future.
Vu Thi Hoa, who lives in Binh Giang District’s Vinh Tuy Commune, saw her husband hospitalised because of kidney failure in 2012. Two years later, he died after dialysis, leaving behind a huge debt, so she had to sell her house. Since then she and her three children have lived on a 10 square metre-room of a relative.

After the husband’s death, besides farming work, Hoa tried to work for a local company to support her family.
Last year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Doctors said that she had to stay at hospital for the treatment; however, she is too poor to afford the hospital fees, so she has returned home. Her condition has recently worsened.
The eldest daughter, 17, is going to leave school to stay at home to take care of her mother and her younger sister and brother.
