Agribank continues securing Top 10 VNR500 place

The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) was named in the Top 10 of VNR500 in 2014 and was the only commercial bank in the position, Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company announced on December 9.

The latest top rankings of VNR500, which indicates Vietnam’s largest enterprises by revenues, showed that the bank has secured the place for five consecutive years.

The others in the Top 10 VNR500 are the Vietnam National Petroleum Group, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) and Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group. They earned combines revenues of over 2.35 trillion VND (110.24 million USD) in 2014.

This year’s VNR500 list, the 8 th edition, aims to honour high-profile enterprises in Vietnam’s business community.

Agribank is the largest commercial bank in Vietnam in terms of total assets, equity, human resources, operating network and client base.

Founded 26 years ago, its main task is to provide loans for agricultural and rural development.

The bank is leading other credit organisations in supplying loans in service of the construction of new style rural areas, lending out a total of 201 trillion VND (9.4 billion USD) to over 2 million farmer households across the country.
