Vietnam has reported an additional 85,765 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, raising the national tally to 9.47 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (8,141), Bac Giang (3,999), Nghe An (3,731), Phu Tho (3,580), and Dak Lak (3,381).
As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,472,254. The country now stands 14th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,466,728), HCM City (593,661), Nghe An (388,472), Binh Duong (375,739), and Hai Duong (341,194).
On March 30, an additional 114,685 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 7,268,531.
On Wednesday evening, a further 41 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,454. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Kien Giang (6), Ben Tre (4), Dak Lak (4), Soc Trang (4), and Lang Son (3).
Vietnam on March 29 administered 386,237 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 205.88 million.
