Additional 264,790 Covid-19 infections announced on Monday

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Monday reported an additional 264,790 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's patient tally to over 6.37 million.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (29,833), Nghe An (10,389), Bac Ninh (7,471), Phu Tho (6,997), and Thai Nguyen (4,979). The four northern provinces of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, and Lao Cai today added 32,400, 30,000, 25,112, and 16,016 more infections to the national tally.

As of Monday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 6,377,438. The country now stands 20th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (838,217), HCM City (570,931), Binh Duong (340,740), Bac Ninh (231,613), and Nghe An (226,561).

On March 14, an additional 108,407 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 3,271,978.

On Monday evening, a further 92 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 41,477. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (11), Quang Ninh (7), Ben Tre (4), Hai Duong (4), Kien Giang (4), Phu Tho (4), and Thanh Hoa (4).

Vietnam on March 13 administered 189,673 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 200.36 million.
