According to the ministry's report, 10,496 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 35 localities including HCM (6,312), Binh Duong (2,178), Dong Nai (777), Long An (379), Kien Giang (157), An Giang (111), and Tien Giang (102). There were 12 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infection number showed a fall of 672 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 6,740 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 630,661 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (309,787), Binh Duong (162,847), Dong Nai (36,361), Long An (28,865), and Tien Giang (12,468). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 635,055. The country now stands 47th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On September 14, an additional 12,683 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 398,461.
On Tuesday evening, a further 276 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 15,936 . The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (199), Binh Duong (41), Dong Nai (12), Tien Giang (7), Long An (4), Kien Giang (4), Dong Thap (4), Binh Thuan (2), Can Tho (1), Quang Binh (1), and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1).
The country has so far conducted over 30.34 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 5.62 million people having received two doses.
