
Clearing road for rescue work at a landslide in Quang Nam Province on October 29.
Deputy chairman of Quang Nam Province, Ho Quang Buu, announced that by 10.30am on October 29 they have recovered the bodies of all eight people who were reported missing at the landslide in Tra Van Commune and eight others at Tra Leng Commune.
"12 others who were injured in Tra Van have been brought to hospitals," he said. "Meanwhile, there were 49 people buried at the Tra Leng landslide among them four managed to escape and two were found injured. We've recovered eight bodies on Thursday morning while rushing to search for 35 others."


Rescue forces wait for the road clearance
The official said that rescue teams are still trying to reach the area as all the roads have been blocked by serious landslides.
"Military officers were mobilised at 2am this morning and are now trying to open the road to Tra Leng," he said.

Military forces sent to search for the victims.
A member of the military rescue team, Colonel Tran Cao Thai said that it is very difficult to reach the area at present on both roads and waterway.
"The road leading to the area is about over 53 kilometres but is being blocked by lots of landslides while floods are rising on the rivers," he said.
