According to the ministry's report, 13 new patients including three women and 10 men aged between 21-33 returned from the Philippines to Can Tho Airport on March 29. They were sent to quarantine areas for Covid-19 prevention upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on March 31. They are now being treated at hospitals in Ca Mau and Ben Tre provinces.
The other patient is a 20-year-old man who returned to Ha Tien International Border Gate on March 30/3. He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on March 31. He is now being treated at the Ha Tien City Healthcare Centre.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,617, including 910 locally-transmitted cases reported since the new outbreak started in Hai Duong on January 28.
As of 6 pm on April 1, a total of 2,359 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
At present, over 37,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
