Transerco will put into use 1,300 electric buses in Hanoi.

Under the agreement signed on February 24, BIDV will support Transerco in implementing a project to use electric and green energy vehicles for public buses in Hanoi from 2024 to 2035.

Transerco will explore partnerships in green energy transition, aiming to reduce methane and carbon emissions in the transport sector. As a key player in the capital's public transport system, Transerco has developed a roadmap for transitioning to electric and green energy buses from 2024 to 2035, with plans to invest in over 1,300 electric buses and a corresponding charging infrastructure network. The total investment is estimated at approximately VND6.5 trillion.

According to Nguyen Thanh Nam, General Director of Transerco, BIDV's commitment to providing preferential credit financing for Transerco's green transport investment projects will accelerate the transition to electric buses and promote sustainable public transport in Hanoi. This will also contribute to the government's and the city's goals of emissions reduction and environmental protection.

"This partnership is a testament to our shared commitment and responsibility towards a common goal, delivering tangible benefits to customers while jointly building a modern and civilised Hanoi," Nam emphasised.
