HCM City road expansion project affects more than 1,300 households

HCM City will reclaim land from 1,362 households for a road expansion project, requiring a total investment of VND10.42 trillion (USD411.21 million).

Under the municipal authorities’ approval, National Highway 22 will be expanded to 60 metres, accommodating 10 lanes with four lanes having a design speed of 80 km/h. The six other lanes will be designed for 60 km/h.

The road is approximately 8 kilometres long, starting at An Suong Intersection in District 12 and ending at the Ring Road 3 interchange in Hoc Mon District.

National Highway 22 in HCM City to be expanded 

The project will also include the construction of seven overpasses at key intersections along the four high-speed lanes.

For the project implementation, HCM City will compulsorily purchase 49.25 hectares of land from 1,362 households, including 44.96 hectares in Hoc Mon District and the remainder in District 12.

Among the affected households, 392 will face full clearance, while 970 will undergo partial clearance.

Of the project’s total investment capital, VND6.92 trillion will be used for site clearance.

The project is expected to start in the second quarter of 2026 and finish in 2028.

Once operational, National Highway 22 will serve as a vital route linking HCM City with Tay Ninh, Long An, and the Cambodian border region.
