The Hanoi People’s Committee has submitted a proposal to the municipal people’s council for approval of several public investment projects, including the construction of Tu Lien, Tran Hung Dao, and Ngoc Hoi bridges over the Red River.

According to the proposal, the Tu Lien Bridge project will include the construction of the bridge and approach roads spanning over 5 km.

The project will be located in three districts of Tay Ho, Dong Anh, and Long Bien, with a total investment exceeding VND 20 trillion (over USD800 million). It is scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2027.

The project comprises multiple components, including the main Tu Lien Bridge crossing the Red River, which will be 1 km long and 43 metres wide. The approach road on the Tay Ho side will stretch 1.4 km, while the approach road on the Dong Anh side will be approximately 0.4 km long and 35 metres wide.

As for the Tran Hung Dao Bridge, Hanoi authorities proposed that it would be about 5.6 km long with an arched structure consisting of six spans and a width of 43 metres, accommodating six lanes for motor vehicles. The approach roads at both ends will be around 30 metres wide, with a total length of approximately 2.25 km.

The total investment for Tran Hung Dao Bridge is nearly VND 16 trillion, with construction expected to take place between 2025 and 2027.

Meanwhile, the Ngoc Hoi Bridge project will cover 7.5 km, including a 7.2 km main bridge and approach roads, with a width of 33 metres.

This project is estimated to cost over VND 11.8 trillion, funded by both the municipal and central government budgets, and is planned for execution from 2025 to 2030.

Currently, Hanoi has eight bridges spanning the Red River including Thang Long, Chuong Duong, Vinh Tuy, Thanh Tri, Nhat Tan, Vinh Thinh, Long Bien, and Viet Tri-Ba Vi.
