Vietnamese airlines' on-time performance plummets in January

The on-time performance of Vietnamese airlines in January 2025, the month before the Lunar New Year, was estimated at only 60 percent.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Vietnam Airlines Group including Vietnam Airlines, VASCO, and Pacific Airlines, along with VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines, operated a total of 24,634 flights in January.

Of the total, Vietnam Airlines operated 10,410 flights with a 69 percent on-time performance rate, while VietJet Air handled 10,917 flights at 46.8 percent.

 Bamboo Airways, the most punctual carrier of the month, ran 1,357 flights with an 84.3 percent on-time rate. Vietravel, VASCO, and Pacific Airlines recorded on-time rates of 57.2 percent, 68.5 percent, and 74.9 percent for 617, 631, and 702 flights, respectively.

In January, around 40 percent of flights were delayed, equal to 9,848 flights. VietJet Air topped the delayed flights with 5,807, followed by Vietnam Airlines with 3,189; Vietravel 264 flights; Bamboo Airways 213; Pacific Airlines 176 and VASCO 199.
