Lein Riches posted a message in an expat community group to thank those who helped make her holiday in Vietnam perfect.
She recalled that a few nights ago, she and her daughter were at Cua Dai Beach, talking about many things until her daughter suddenly realised her engagement ring was missing.

The next day, she reached out for help, and a man on Facebook, Phan Thanh Trinh, came to assist.
In her post, Riches shared that she had spent hours searching from sunrise the previous day, but eventually gave up due to exhaustion. She described Trinh, 41, from An Hai Ward, Danang, who helped as a hero, saying he dug through all kinds of things until he found the ring, and refused to accept any payment.
Riches praised the country and its people as ‘just wonderful’, showing her sincere thanks to Vietnam and Trinh for their support.
On the morning of August 1, outside of working hours, Trinh and his friend Pham Nhu Dong arrived at Cua Dai Beach to begin the search.
Trinh said the tourist couldn’t recall the exact spot, so the team used a metal detector to search along the shore. After persistent efforts, the ring was found buried in the sand near the water’s edge.
Trinh and Dong are both officers with the Beach Tourism Order Management Team on the Son Tra Peninsula.
