According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, rain in northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa Province is forecast to ease before another spell of showers and thunderstorms arrives on the night of July 27, with some areas likely to see heavy to very heavy rain.
From Nghe An to Danang, as well as parts of the Central Highlands, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast through July 26, with rainfall of 10-30 mm and isolated totals exceeding 50 mm, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
Southern Vietnam and Lam Dong Province are expected to see moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 20-40 mm and isolated areas receiving more than 100 mm, mostly during the afternoon and night.
Rainfall across southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands is forecast to ease around July 30-31.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Noul, the second storm to enter the East Sea this year, was packing sustained winds of 118-133 kph with gusts of up to 167 kph on Friday evening. The storm was located over the northeastern part of the East Sea, about 290 km east-southeast of Hong Kong.
Forecasters said the typhoon is expected to move northwest and make landfall in Guangdong Province, China, with no direct impact on mainland Vietnam expected.
