On July 25, the Traffic Police Division under Ho Chi Minh City Police said it had dealt with several cases of bus drivers breaching regulations on continuous driving time.
Earlier, at midday on July 24, the Ben Thanh traffic police team found that a 51-year-old driver, who was operating bus route 56 between Cho Lon Bus Station and the new Mien Dong Bus Station, had exceeded the permitted driving time.

At the same time, the Rach Chiec traffic police team inspected and found that a 45-year-old driver, who was operating bus route 19 between Ben Thanh and Linh Trung Export Processing Zone, had committed the same offence.
Traffic police issued penalty notices to the drivers, with fines of VND 3-5 million (USD 115-192), and deducted two points from their driving licences.
Vehicle owners were also fined VND 8-12 million (USD 308-462), for assigning vehicles to drivers who committed the violations.

Traffic police urged transport businesses and drivers to strictly comply with regulations on drivers' working hours, warning them not to exceed the permitted time because of revenue pressure or scheduling demands. Compliance with the rules not only helps ensure road safety but also protects the health and lives of passengers and other road users.
