Ca Mau Airport in the southern province of Ca Mau will temporarily shut down from November to be upgraded.

According to ACV, the package covers the construction and installation of equipment for the runway, taxiways, aircraft apron, and associated support facilities. It is scheduled to commence on August 19 and be completed by October 2026.

Ca Mau Airport will be closed from November 1, 2025, to October 1, 2026, for the work. ACV has instructed the contractor to accelerate the package to reopen the airport as planned.

The Ca Mau Airport expansion project, approved by the prime minister in October 2024, aims to extend the runway, enlarge the apron and terminal, enabling operations of Airbus A320/321 aircraft and equivalents. It has a total investment capital of VND 2.4 trillion (USD 91.6 million).

The project’s site clearance has been fully completed, with over VND 577 billion paid in compensation.

Ca Mau Airport currently features a 1,500-metre-long, 30-metre-wide runway suitable only for small aircraft such as the ATR72 and Embraer E190. It is designed to serve around 200,000 passengers annually.

The airport now operates a single route between Ca Mau and HCM City with four weekly flights.
