The child died at around 5 pm on Tuesday, following 21 days of intensive care at Danang Hospital. During this time, he fell into a deep coma caused by severe brain injuries, including intracranial haemorrhage and subdural bleeding.
At the police station, Nguyen Thi Quyen, owner of the unlicensed Nhu Y childcare facility in Cam Thanh Ward, admitted to the offence.

According to Quyen, on July 16, the boy was taken to the Nhu Y Nursery by his mother, where Quyen was responsible for looking after him. When he became fussy and started crying, Quyen, in a fit of anger, threw him onto a mattress on the floor. His head struck the tiled surface with force, causing him to convulse, turn blue, and vomit.
Quyen and her relatives took the child to the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital for emergency care and informed his family. His condition worsened, and he was transferred to Danang Hospital for further treatment.

Initially, when being questioned by the boy’s family, Quyen falsely claimed that the child had fallen and hit his head while eating. Upon requesting to view the camera at the childcare facility, Quyen repeatedly made excuses to avoid showing it. Then the family reported the case to the police.
The police investigation revealed that Quyen’s assault led to the boy’s head trauma, and the woman was prosecuted on August 1.
The Forensic Science Sub-Institute in Danang concluded that the child had sustained a traumatic brain injury. He passed away on August 5.
