As of July 23, 30,144,997 people had undergone free health checks or screenings, equivalent to 29.63 per cent of the population, according to the Ministry of Health, citing reports from all 34 provinces and centrally administered cities.
The ministry said 3.82 million people had also been issued electronic health records, laying the foundation for long-term health management.
The programme follows a directive issued by the prime minister requiring every resident to receive at least one free annual health check or screening.
Deputy Health Minister Tran Van Thuan said the ministry had assigned responsibilities to local authorities and healthcare providers, issued professional guidelines and sent inspection teams to monitor implementation and address difficulties.
The ministry said the programme aims to shift the healthcare system from treating illness to preventive care through regular health monitoring, early disease detection and long-term health management.
Officials said future implementation would prioritise the quality of health checks over the number of people screened while ensuring consistent nationwide reporting under a unified digital health record system.
