Northern region faces intense heatwave

Vietnam's northern region is struggling with a new intense hot spell, with the highest temperatures commonly ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, scorching heat has returned to northern localities. Northeastern areas are sweltering with temperatures reaching 35-36 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 36 degrees. In the northwest, localised heatwaves have pushed temperatures beyond 35 degrees in certain locations.

On August 3, the heatwave is expected to spread across the entire northern region, with maximum temperatures commonly ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius and minimum relative humidity levels between 60 and 65 per cent.

As for Hanoi’s weather on August 2, the day will be hot, with some areas exceeding 36 degrees Celsius; scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the evening and at night.

The central region of Vietnam will remain under blazing heat on August 2-3, with temperatures ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius and some areas topping 37 degrees. Affected areas include Thanh Hoa to Danang, and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa. Minimum humidity will stay between 55-60 per cent.

The meteorological agency has warned that the heatwave from Thanh Hoa to Danang, and across eastern parts of Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa, is expected to persist for several more days. The hot weather in the north is likely to continue until August 4.
