Global searches for Vietnamese tourism soar

Foreign searches for Vietnamese accommodation on Google have increased, proving the country’s strong appeal to them.

According to the Tourism Information Technology Centre of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), global searches for Vietnamese accommodations increased by 15-30 percent year-over-year from late November to January. The upward trend continued in the first two weeks of February, reaching a 30-50 percent rise.

The US topped the searches for Vietnam tourism information, followed by Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the UK, Canada, Germany, and Malaysia.

Vietnam’s most searched destinations among international holidaymakers include HCM City, Hanoi, Danang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Hue, and Vung Tau.

In January, Vietnam served nearly 2.1 million foreign visitors, up 36.9 percent on-year.

This year, the Vietnamese tourism sector has set a goal to welcome 22-23 million foreign and 120-130 million domestic tourists.

The Vietnamese government issued a resolution on January 15 granting visa exemptions to citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland as part of a 2025 tourism stimulus programme.

This visa waiver policy will be effective from the first day of March to the last day of December 2025.
