Aroma Beach Restaurant has been suspended.

According to the committee, Aroma Beach Restaurant was fined for five violations, including advertising products and goods without using Vietnamese, providing food services without food safety and hygiene certificates, not displaying its business name at the head office, not posing prices as regulated, and selling goods at prices higher than the listed prices.

The move came following an investigation into complaints from a group of Chinese tourists about being overcharged by the restaurant at 38 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Nha Trang City.

A Facebook account named Minh Ha shared information posted by a Chinese tourist who complained about her group being overcharged at Aroma Beach on February 4.

According to the Chinese tourists, they were charged VND1,890,000 for a dish of grilled aubergine with onion, VND500,000 for a dish of stir-fried morning glory with garlic, VND325,000 for a bowl of chicken or beef noodles, VND250,000 for a bowl of steamed rice, and VND100,000 for a can of Coke or Tiger beer.

Explaining to local authorities, the restaurant's owner, Ho Van Tam, admitted that a group of about 20 Chinese tourists came to his restaurant on the evening of February 3. They had discussed this with them before preparing the food, and the dishes were made bigger for a large group, so they had higher prices.

Tam also said they had agreed not to collect nearly VND5 million in holiday surcharges, and the group only paid over VND12 million instead of over VND20 million, as the bill stated.
