Speaking with Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper on Sunday evening, the Transport Police Department said they had issued driver Le Van a fine of VND102 million and seized his bus.
The department said that the 46-seater bus was found transporting 56 passengers at 6 pm on February 2 on the Phap Van Expressway. Meanwhile, driver Le Van failed to show his driving licence.
The same day, police in the northern city of Haiphong also fined the driver of a 30-seater bus VND15 million after it was found to have transported 36 passengers.
On January 23, Haiphong police also fined bus driver Ngo Van VND112.50 million for transporting 15 passengers more than the vehicle's capacity.
According to the Traffic Police Department, the number of traffic accidents has decreased by 38 percent during the nine-day Lunar New Year 2025 holiday compared to the 2024 holiday.
The department reported that 445 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 209 fatalities and 373 injuries during the nine-day Lunar New Year 2025 holiday from January 25 to February 2.
