The planned locations include the passenger terminal's departure and arrival halls; the cargo terminal area; government agency and airport administration buildings; an outdoor car park; and an outdoor motorbike parking area.
The airport's bus network will include conventional routes linking it to urban transport systems and dedicated shuttle services offering faster connections from key transport hubs

The passenger terminal area will primarily serve shuttle bus services, with a centralised pick-up and drop-off zone. The remaining locations may accommodate both conventional and shuttle buses depending on demand.
At the passenger terminal, bus lanes will be separated from private vehicle traffic, allowing buses to stop directly alongside terminal pavements to facilitate safe and convenient boarding.
Authorities have also been asked to align bus schedules and frequencies with flight operations, particularly during peak travel periods, to minimise congestion.
The bus system is scheduled to be introduced alongside the airport's opening in late 2026, with additional routes expected to be added in the first half of 2027 as passenger numbers increase.
The airport operator is also studying premium bus services linking Long Thanh directly with tourist destinations such as Phan Thiet, Dalat and Nha Trang, targeting international visitors and reducing pressure on HCM City's transport hubs.
As part of its long-term vision to become a green airport, Long Thanh is also planning charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, including electric buses.
CAAV has proposed integrating multilingual signage, QR codes and digital maps throughout the transport network, alongside data links between the airport's Flight Information Display System (FIDS) and bus management platforms.
Flight information screens may also be installed at bus stations and transport interchanges to help passengers monitor departures and arrivals.
CAAV noted that rail and metro links to Long Thanh International Airport will not be operational during the initial phase of the airport's operations, making a comprehensive bus network essential for connecting the airport with HCM City and neighbouring provinces.
