Most of the patients were sent to Vung Tau Hospital and the remainder brought to Vietsovpetro Medical Centre. As many as 149 cases have been discharged from the two facilities following their recovery.

The fatality was a 71-year-old man hospitalised on November 28 following abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea. He had a biological aortic valve replacement four years ago.

After being taken to the Department of Geriatric Cardiology, he was diagnosed with serious gastrointestinal infection and acute kidney damage. In the afternoon of the same day, the patient faced cardiac arrest and was taken home at the family's request and then died shortly.

Local authorities are investigating whether the suspected poisoning death at Ba Ria Hospital is connected to the more than 300 food poisoning cases reported in Vung Tau City. They are still waiting for the test results for food samples from the HCM City Institute of Public Health.

All of the hospitalised people ate sandwiches at CB Bakery in Ward 7 on November 27.
