Vietnam will attend the exhibition for world intangible cultural heritage in China on May 27-June 3.

Saint Giong Festival: Vietnam’s latest intangible cultural heritage recognised by UNESCO

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam will bring five cultural “specialities” recognised by UNESCO: nha nhac (Hue royal music), khong gian van hoa cong chieng Tay Nguyen (the cultural space of Gong), ca tru (ceremonial songs), quan ho (Love duets) and Hoi Giong (Saint Giong Festival) to the event.

The exhibition will be an opportunity for Vietnam to highlight its culture on an international stage.

Hue royal music was recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage on November 7, 2003.

There are efforts underway to seek similar recognition from the organisation for Don ca tai tu Nam bo’ (southern amateur singing), and ‘Tin nguong tho cung Hung Vuong’ (faith in and worship of Hung Kings).
