Hue rolls out events to boost tourism over National Day holiday

Hue City is launching a series of cultural events, festivals and free attractions in late August and early September as the city seeks to draw more visitors during the National Day holiday.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre said admission to Hue Nam Temple would be free during the Hue Nam Temple Festival from August 18 to 22, allowing visitors and pilgrims to attend ceremonies and worship at the site.

The festival, also known as the Hon Chen Temple Festival, is a national intangible cultural heritage associated with the UNESCO-listed Vietnamese practice of worshipping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms.

Vietnamese citizens will also receive free admission to sites within the Complex of Hue Monuments on August 19 and September 2, National Day.

Several major cultural events are scheduled around the National Day holiday. The Hue Wonderverse Music Fest 2026 will run from August 30 to September 1 at the city's Sports Centre Square, with free admission.

The festival will feature two main concert nights, "Heritage Awakens" and "Heritage Connects", combining Vietnamese heritage with contemporary and international music.

Other events include a National Day arts programme on the Hai Ba Trung pedestrian street and a traditional boat race on the Huong River.

The Hue Thanh Tra Pomelo Festival will take place in Thuy Xuan Ward from August 29 to 31, showcasing the city's well-known local fruit alongside OCOP products and other regional specialities.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang is known for its extensive cave systems, primary forests and distinctive geological and geomorphological features.

Hue welcomed more than five million visitors in the first seven months of 2026, with tourism revenue exceeding VND 12 trillion, about 1.6 times the level recorded in the same period last year.
