On September 7, airfares on many domestic routes for September and October were significantly lower as demand for domestic travel eased following the peak National Day holiday period.

A one-way ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to Danang with Vietjet was available for VND 628,000 (USD 24), while Vietnam Airlines was charging about VND 1.3 million (USD 50). On the Ho Chi Minh City-Vinh route, Vietravel Airlines was offering fares from VND 851,000 (USD 33), while Vietjet tickets were priced at less than VND 1 million (USD 38). The prices include taxes and fees.
Several flight-booking and travel platforms are also running September 9 sales promotions, with some round-trip fares costing less than VND 500,000 (USD 19) before taxes and fees. On the Ho Chi Minh City-Phu Quoc route, for example, one travel platform was offering a round-trip package for VND 1.2 million (USD 46), including taxes and fees.
A Vietjet flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue departing on September 16 was priced at VND 889,000 (USD 34) one way, while Vietnam Airlines was charging about VND 1 million (USD 38).
The Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi route was also seeing relatively low fares, starting at VND 850,000 (USD 33) one way with Vietravel Airlines. Sun PhuQuoc Airways was charging about VND 932,000 (USD 36), Vietjet VND 974,000 (USD 37), and Vietnam Airlines about VND 1.3 million (USD 50) at the lowest.
Even routes with relatively few flights, which rarely see significant price reductions, have become cheaper. One-way fares from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao, which normally average VND 2-2.5 million (USD 77-96), had fallen to about VND 1.1 million (USD 42) for departures on September 13 and remained around that level on other days in September.
A ticket agency on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street in Vo Thi Sau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said its booking system had recorded domestic fares in September and October that were 30-50 per cent lower than during the summer and the National Day holiday period.
The agency attributed the decline to weaker travel demand while airlines continued to maintain relatively high seat capacity.
For Hanoi-Danang flights, round-trip tickets from some airlines were available for about VND 1.2-1.5 million (USD 46-58) on some September dates, 30-40 per cent lower than the previous month.
From Ho Chi Minh City, round-trip fares to Danang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc were generally around VND 1.2-1.6 million (USD 46-62), representing savings of about VND 1-2.5 million (USD 38-96) per journey compared with the period immediately before the National Day holiday.
