The 10 per cent fare reduction applies to SE-series Reunification Express trains operating on the North-South route, with passengers saving between VND 110,000 and VND 280,000 (approximately USD 4.20 and USD 10.70) per ticket, depending on the class of travel.

Passengers travelling on the SNT1, SNT2, SNT4 and SNT5 services between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang will receive discounts ranging from VND 70,000 to VND 160,000 (approximately USD 2.70 to USD 6.10) per ticket.

On the Hanoi-Vinh route, fares on the NA1 and NA2 services have been reduced by between VND 50,000 and VND 80,000 (approximately USD 1.90 and USD 3.10) for four berth sleeper compartments.

The NA1 service also offers discounted six berth sleeper fares for trains departing on Thursdays and Fridays, while the NA2 service applies the same discounts to departures on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

A representative of Railway Transport JSC said the fare reductions reflected lower operating costs resulting from declining domestic fuel prices.

The company said the discounts, introduced during the peak summer travel season, were intended to pass on the benefits of lower input costs to passengers while encouraging rail travel.
