Nguyen Thu Phuong, deputy director of the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said authorities had completed a comprehensive review of operating procedures, equipment, pilot qualifications and rescue plans.
"To date, no competent authority has approved the resumption of commercial paragliding services on Son Tra Peninsula," Phuong said.
She said the service would only be allowed to resume once all safety requirements, management procedures and legal conditions had been fully met.
Phuong added that Danang supports the development of new tourism products, including paragliding, but said visitor safety would remain the city's top priority.
The suspension followed a fatal accident on July 7, 2025, when a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City fell to his death shortly after take-off.
According to court documents, the tandem pilot failed to fasten the passenger's leg straps before take-off. The passenger slipped from the harness minutes later and died in the fall.
Investigators concluded the pilot had failed to carry out mandatory pre-flight safety checks.
An appeals court later upheld the pilot's 12-month sentence for involuntary manslaughter through professional negligence, but suspended the jail term after considering mitigating factors, including compensation to the victim's family and his guilty plea.
