Lao Cai halts high-risk activities amid Typhoon Wipha

Lao Cai Province has issued an urgent directive requiring local authorities and tourism businesses to suspend all outdoor activities to ensure safety amid the approaching Typhoon Wipha.

Under the instruction of the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, tourism businesses must closely monitor weather conditions and proactively ensure the safety of tourists, especially foreign visitors. All outdoor activities, including mountain climbing and high-risk services, will be suspended during the storm. Tourist vehicles are prohibited from entering hazardous areas.

Wards and communes in Lao Cai have been asked to review all tourist sites, lodging facilities and heritage sites to assess risks and prepare timely response plans. Local broadcast systems must regularly update weather forecasts and provide timely information to both residents and tourists.

All developments and any damage must be reported to the department urgently before being submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
