French President Emmanuel Macron posted a video on May 27, in both Vietnamese and French, highlighting key moments from his state visit to Vietnam from May 25 to 27.

The video opened with scenes of President Macron waving to the public while walking through the streets of Hanoi with his spouse. He visited prominent landmarks and cultural sites, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, the Temple of Literature, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

The video also recapped President Macron's meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders. He underlined France's desire to continue strengthening cooperation with Vietnam in healthcare, education, and culture while expanding into infrastructure, urban transport, aerospace, renewable energy, and historical remembrance.

In a joint statement, France and Vietnam reiterated their commitment to deepening their partnership. France encouraged Vietnam's participation in French-led initiatives on artificial intelligence and expressed support for training high-quality human resources in this field.

This was President Macron's first visit to Vietnam since taking office and marked the fifth visit by a French president since diplomatic ties were established in 1973.

Vietnam and France established diplomatic relations on April 12, 1973, became Strategic Partners in 2013, and elevated the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024.

In 2024, bilateral trade reached USD 5.42 billion, up 12.9 percent from 2023. The Vietnamese community in France, numbering around 350,000, is the largest in Europe.
