Tran Thi Chinh, 37, from Quynh Luu District's Quynh Thanh Commune, cares for her 10-month-old Ho Kim Oanh at home. Oanh now weighs just 5 kilos. Due to the family's financial difficulties, the baby has not yet been taken to hospital.

"She cries all day and night. I have been almost exhausted due to sleepless nights caring for her. But I don't have money to treat her," Chinh said.
Chinh has five children, and Oanh is the youngest.
According to Chinh, due to her difficult circumstances, she only had one prenatal check-up during her pregnancy with Oanh, when the fetus was just over two months old. During that time, she had to work very hard, causing her premature birth.
Oanh was born weighing just 1.7 kilos and was diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Following the ten-day treatment at hospital, the child was taken home as the family could not afford the treatment.

Hoang Van Tin, vice chairman of Quynh Thanh Commune, said the family mainly depends on farming. Chinh's husband, Ho Sy Kinh, works for construction sites and earns a modest income per month.
Three years ago, the couple decided to build a new house on their own. However, while the house was being built, Chinh was pregnant, and Oanh was born, so the work was halted.
The family has incurred a total debt of VND200 million (USD8,000).
