A poor woman in the central province of Quang Nam whose husband and son have died of cancer is taking care of a grandson who was severely injured in a traffic accident.
Nguyen Thi Ba, 69, from Dai Nghia Commune in Dai Lo District, cares for her 17-year-old grandson Dang Gia Huy, who has hemiplegia following a traffic accident at the end of last year.
Ba's fmaily is desperate need of the community support
The traffic accident left Huy in a deep coma for 20 days with severe brain trauma. Despite intensive treatment, the left side of his body side has remained paralysed.
Huy's mother abandoned him when he was just two years old. In 2019, Huy's father was diagnosed with lung cancer and died three years later.
Meanwhile, Huy's grandfather also died of cancer just two months before his father's death.
Ba also has to care for her 29-year-old disabled youngest daughter. She only stays at home.
Thai Ngoc Oi, vice chairman of Dai Nghia Commune, said Ba's family was very poor. The family has faced more difficulties since Huy's traffic accident.
Locals have helped the family, but aid has remained modest. He hoped that more people could help through Dantri/DTiNews.
