Over 100 wild animals released back to wild in Ninh Binh in first five months

Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh has released 102 animals, including many endangered rare groups, back into the wild in the first five months of 2024.

The park rescued and took care of 2,988 wild animals of 74 species in the first five months of this year, according to the Director of the park's Centre for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organismsis, Le Trong Dat.

"Between January and May, we received 189 animals of 34 species," he said. "Many of them are rare and are critically endangered which are currently on the list of Vietnam's Red Book and International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red Book".

Dat also shared that 203 baby animals of 10 species were born during the period.

Last year, the park received 599 wild animals of 48 species and saw 291 newborns of 26 species. As many as 306 animals of 23 species were released back to the wild in 2023.

Established in 1962 on an area of over 22,000 hectares in three provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa, Cuc Phuong was Vietnam's first national park and also the country's first nature conservation area.
