A 31-year-old man in the central city of Danang has miraculously survived after drifting at sea for 32 hours.

According to the initial information, at 7 pm on October 13, Dang Huy Hung left home to go fishing at the stone embankment beneath the Thuan Phuoc Bridge in Hai Chau District.

On the same day, at around 9 pm, his girlfriend phoned him but there was no answer. She then went to the stone embankment area to look for him but could not find him.

His girlfriend went the area to search for him again at 4 pm on October 14 and only found his motorcycle abandoned on the shore. She immediately reported the situation to local authorities.

A rescue team and the couple's relatives and friends walked along the stone embankment and used boats to search for him through that night but their efforts were unsuccessful.

At 5 am on October 15, some residents walking along the Nguyen Tat Thanh Beach at the Ton That Dam Street intersection in Thanh Khe District saw Hung drifting ashore. The man was found roughly 4 kilometres from where he had gone fishing.

At first, the residents thought the man was dead; however, upon noticing that Hung's fingers were still moving, they gave him first aid and then rushed him to the hospital. And he has improved after receiving treatment.

Hung has remained tired. However, he can now speak a little bit.

He recounted that while his fishing line got stranded on the stone embankment at around 9 pm on October 13, he dove down to remove the hook but unluckily lost his footing and was swept away by the current, falling into a coma.
