"We were so disappointed with the players," Trang said. "And we were even more disappointed by coach Troussier. We couldn't understand why he left so many key players out, including Quang Hai."
Thuy Trang and many others held Troussier Out signs at the end of the match.
Another fan, Thao My, said her trust in the team and coach faded after their continuous losses in recent matches. "This is the first time in history that Vietnam has lost three consecutive matches to Indonesia without scoring," she said. "We had very much hoped for just one goal but there was none."
Disappointed Vietnamese fans
Troussier ended his one-year tenure as the Vietnam national team head coach with the worst win percentage of any coach in the team's history, at just 31 percent. The Vietnam Under-23s head coach position is also open following Troussier’s departure as the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup nears.
