Cau Den Village cultivates some 50 hectares of lychees.
A villager, Nguyen Thi Loan, said that she is has hired three people to help harvest lychee. They start working from 2 am.
"We can have better prices if we sell before 6 am to traders," Loan said. "After that time, the prices will fall."
Another farmer, Vi Thi Tuyet said that she was harvesting some 200-300 kilos of lychees per day and the selling prices range between VND7,000-20,000 per kilo depending on time.
"We have to get up early to pick the fresh fruits to sell in order to have better prices," Tuyet said. "Normally we will transport the first batch of lychees to traders at 4 am every day."
There are three varieties of lychees grown in Luc Ngan, which are harvested over about two months.
