Son Tra Peninsula closed to visitors due to heavy rain

Authorities of Danang City have announced to temporarily close the Son Tra Peninsula to visitors as the city is struggling with torrential rain.

Many areas in Danang have been submerged, including those in the Son Tra Peninsula. On the morning of September 18, the rainfall at Linh Ung Pagoda on the peninsula was 150mm.

  

Danang is facing heavy rain 

The city is forecasted to witness torrential rain until September 21 as a tropical depression in the East Sea intensifies into  a storm and affects the central region of Vietnam.

The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula decided to halt tours to the peninsula starting September 18 until further notice.

Authorities in Danang are currently planning to evacuate residents in areas vulnerable to landslides, flooding, or isolation.

As of 5 am yesterday morning, September 18, 62 Danang vessels with 617 crew members were still operating at sea. The city’s Border Guard Command issued calls for them to return to shore.

Danang has shut all schools from Wednesday afternoon to ensure safety.
